Traditional Thai Massage

Practised in Thailand for centuries and recognised by UNESCO as part of the country's cultural heritage, traditional Thai massage is performed on a floor mat with the guest fully clothed and no oils. The therapist uses hands, thumbs, elbows, knees and body weight in rhythmic acupressure along the body's energy lines, interwoven with assisted, yoga-like stretches. The therapist uses palms, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure along the body's energy lines, combined with assisted yoga-like stretches for hips, back, shoulders and legs.

Every energy line is followed from feet to scalp, with assisted stretches for hips, spine and shoulders and long pauses that allow the body to accept each release.

What should I wear or bring to a Thai massage?

Nothing at all — for traditional Thai massage we provide loose, comfortable garments, and oil treatments use towel draping throughout. Just arrive 10 minutes early to change and talk through any tension or medical notes with your therapist.

Can Thai massage help with back pain or sciatica?

Many guests book Thai massage in Athens specifically for back tension after travel or long hours at a desk.
